New adventures should be our tag line...

HELLO SEATTLE!
...well almost...

I haven't been very good about keeping up on this blog- what can I say, life happens. It's been extremely busy in the store. And, big things have been in the works!

Sean and I are very adventurous together... we like to explore and travel- and we're not the type of people who are willing to settle when we know theres something better suited for us out there.
While we love our home and our family here in Fresno, the industry that Sean is in has taken a massive hit due to the economic recession. The drive to Bakersfield was getting to be too much of a hassle and despite his amazing resume there just weren't any viable opportunities here in Fresno. We decided to expand our search a little and start thinking outside the box... or valley. In true Sean style, more Excel spreadsheets than I care to remember were made- weighing the pro's and con's of a possible move out of state. An amazing opportunity came available and was brought to our attention... in Seattle, Washington. In constant communication with the hiring manager at Anixter Inc, Sean and I both knew this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. He booked a flight- flew in for a quick stay and killed the interview. He was officially offered the job, and accepted.

My company is based out of Seattle, so I haven't had a problem transferring back to a full line Nordstrom store in a suburb of the city. I'm very excited to be back on the sales floor and see where my career with the company will take me from here.

While telling my work 'sisters' about all of this while it was in progress I was overwhelmed by their support and understanding. Then they amazed me again and asked about renting the house. I love our home and the thought of strangers living here was a little un-nerving... so to know that people I know and adore will be here makes leaving that much easier.

We have been so blessed with an amazing family who are understanding of our insanity, and accept us and all the wacky decisions we make. We broke the news to both sets of parents and they were so supportive and encouraging. We are sad to be moving away from our families- but it's a straight flight from SEA-FAT and SEA-SAN on Alaskan Air (I sense a credit card in our future- frequent flyer miles!!!) so we'll be able to make the trip down fairly often.

So here's to the next big adventure!!

Monday = my day off = wedding planning, much?

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a little obsessive.

And when I say a little, I really mean a lot.

Even though we can't set a date till I've seen all the venues I've been researching for the past four months I still have been planning as much as possible... It's overwhelming. Sean used to joke that he could plan a wedding in an afternoon after work, a month in advance. I laid it all out for him, all the planning and effort that went into the big day... he kindly backed down to the challenge. We decided to push the date back from April to the end of the year, 2011. In true Sean & Jae style, we've changed our date / venue three times now. We just keep finding different options that fit our style and budget better. Hopefully on our next trip down I'll be able to meet with the wedding coordinators at each of the three venues we've narrowed it down to and sign a contract. At that point the real planning will begin... and you'd better watch out. I promise not to become a Bridezilla -(cross my heart and hope to die, poke a needle in my eye). The B is capitalized for a reason... just btw. My poor bridesmaids have just kind of stopped asking, cause it seems like every time they do the plan is changed. So my lips are sealed until I sign that darn contract.

In other news, work is finally starting to get busy- and I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous for the holiday season. I'm no newbie to the retail world and holiday mayhem. I've dealt with my fair share of narcotic mothers who have to have the best for their daughter on the East coast in her first year of college (yes, order that $295 designer scarf in all three colors to have wrapped and sent to her), as well as the frantic husbands on Christmas eve who will buy anything you show them with the hope that the chaotic unwrapping of paper the next morning will reveal a squeal even louder than last years thoughtless gifts. But... this is my first year on the management team, as well as in a different, more hectic division of my company. So wish me luck on keeping my sanity this joyous and jubilant holiday season.

On a whole different note... The Fresno Two Cities Marathon and Half took place on November 7th. I completed my second half marathon, and Sean completed for the third year in a row (two half marathons, as well as his first full last year. This year we were joined by my parents who walked the half marathon- even battling a nasty virus momma completed, in good spirits! As well as Sean's mom and brother! We've admitted it to each other, Sean and I are runners... We hate the thought, but it's the truth. Just don't tell anyone. Please?

We had the joy of hosting some of my family from San Diego in the days leading up to the marathon, and it was a a blast! We had the opportunity to share our home, as well as our love for Yosemite National Park with them. My brother and family came up, and my amazing sister in law did an engagement session at the park for Sean and I. We received the photos yesterday and they are amazing! Thank you Marisa! Unbeknown to me, my younger sister and her husband were also able to make the trip up. It was an amazing surprise, and I can't wait to share Fresno with the rest of the family!

I've got a hyper-active puppy who needs a run and a bath, a mountain of laundry to tackle and the grocery store to brave so I'm off for the day! Unless I can't resist the urge to look up wedding etiquette questions later...

Fresno- Fresyes.

I've been wanting to start a blog for some time now...
But like with most things lately, it's been pushed to the side.
Well what better time than the present... right? I guess.
So here goes...

My name is Jae. I'm engaged to a man named Sean.
We have a puppy named Eva (she's our child).
We're getting married- when, you might ask...
Sometime next year... Where? Somewhere in San Diego.
I work in retail. He works in electrical distribution.
I drive twenty minutes to work. His commute is a little bit longer...
I'm working on my degree (kind of). He has his.
We love adventure, hiking, camping, traveling... ect.
We're runners, but won't admit it.

Is that vague enough, while still giving information?
Not so sure about this whole blogging thing...
We'll see where it ends up. Or down.

After all- this is the 559. You never know what could happen...
